The Alexa Audio on Automotive team is redefining the entertainment experience in the car. It is day 1. Join us to become a founding member of a new initiative that involves Alexa, Entertainment, Cars, and Internet of Things.
Key job responsibilities
- Build end-to-end customer experiences that bring intelligent, personalized voice-first, entertainment experiences into the vehicle
- Incorporate best practices, produce secure, testable, maintainable, and extensible code and perform peer code reviews
- Work with product management, UX, and cross-functional teams to build and ship technical solutions for the best customer experiences
- Work in an Agile / Scrum environment to deliver high quality software
- Participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others - improving their skills, their knowledge of your software, and their ability to get things done
A day in the life
As a software development engineer,
- You will design, implement, and deliver software in ambiguous and complex problem spaces.
- You will be working with an assorted set of stakeholders across organizations such as product and program management teams and UX teams.
- You will influence the technology decisions that will drive future products and features that directly affect our growth in this critical space.

Amazon Smart Vehicles’ vision is to bring the Alexa experience into the car, so you can take her with you on the go. Voice technology shines in environments where you’re occupied with other tasks.
That’s a big reason why Alexa has become so popular in places like the kitchen or living room, and why we see the opportunity in automotive as big as the smart home.
With Alexa in the car, customers can use their voice to play music, control in-cabin comfort features like AC / heater, control smart home devices from the car, and access tens of thousands of skills built by third-party developers all while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
