Siemens Mobility Customer Servicesis seeking a Product Manager Alternative Parts to lead its alternative partdevelopment business based in Sacramento, CA.
Customer Services is the service arm for Siemens Mobility rolling stockproducts (Light Rail Vehicles, and Main Transit Lines), covering customer needsthroughout North America.
As the product manager in thealternative parts program, you will work on new product development to expandand improve the current service vision for existing products and develop anongoing strategy of new product development and sales.
You will use your new product developmentskills to assist in creations of a portfolio of form-fit-function aftermarketpart equivalents for customers.
Thisrole may encompass replacement of obsolete hardware or developing newalternative parts with better performance than original equipment.
The position will support theplanning and execution of product line initiatives and overall categorystrategy. This includes development of new products, optimizing and increasingprofitability of existing products, and vendor management.
The position assistsin leading product development from conceptual stages through its entire lifecycle to optimize profit and meet marketing, sales, financial, and corporategrowth objectives.

Whatyour day-to-day will look like :
- Support product strategies and proactively help lead productsthroughout the lifecycle to ensure success of products.
- Support product category strategy and Spares department P&L toachieve established revenue, margin, and profit goals.
- Work with Engineering, Operations and Strategic Sourcing toidentify and implement initiatives to maintain market competitiveness.
- Assist the technical publications department as necessary increating and verifying content for operations manuals, instructions sheets andservice bulletins.
- Work with suppliers to ensure acceptable product quality, conformance,and support to include communicating product quality issues and productimprovement requests through established formats and resolving warranty issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure current and accurate productmanuals and service / parts manuals are published and shipped in accordance withcompany guidelines.
- Monitor warranty and ensure that product issues are resolved.
- Develop and maintain a product management backlog for theAftermarket Parts business as process owner.
- Develop and present detailed business cases for new products to managementensuring alignment to strategy and ensuring that the team prioritizes productsbased on input from management.
- Develop and maintain timelines, communicate project status tostakeholders, and monitor progress to the end product launch.
- Champion and communicate the value proposition, technicaldifferentiation, and advantages of products in the portfolio.
- Identify product gaps and customer needs; help conductcustomer / market research to identify solutions.
- Determine product pricing based on market research, productioncosts and anticipated demand.
Tothrive in this role, you have :
- Bachelor’sdegree in business or technical discipline,
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated success in product management and new product development,
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office,
- Abilityto make decisions in a challenging environment,
- Entrepreneurialapproach and the ability to drive ideas into a product and overcome challengesand hurdles in developing a new business category,
- Abilityto travel 25% of the time,
- Settingyou apart from others would be a Master’s degree in a business field of studywith experience in heavy industry or computer hardware.
Experience with Jira and SAP would be a plus.
