Job Overview :

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking a Health-Related Boards Investigator (HRBI) to serve as a field investigator for the Health-Related Boards in the Office of Investigations. The duty for this position involves investigating complaint allegations, collecting pertinent evidence, and preparing concise reports detailing the investigative findings.

Key Responsibilities :

• The field investigators will represent the Department in investigating complaint allegations of licensed healthcare providers on behalf of the 34 health-related boards for the State of Tennessee;
• Conducts in-person interviews of complainants, witnesses, and respondents to determine the veracity of the allegations filed against a licensed healthcare provider;
• Collects, evaluates, and processes evidence;
• Prepares written reports documenting the findings of the investigation;
• Coordinates with law enforcement agencies (State and Federal) throughout the state of Tennessee regarding allegations of criminal activity by licensed healthcare providers;
• Coordinates throughout the life of the investigation with the Office of General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications :

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in criminal justice or related field with at least five years of full-time investigative experience conducting healthcare investigations,

OR

A bachelor's degree in nursing and experience equivalent to three years of full-time, increasingly responsible professional nursing.

Substitution of Experience for Education : Qualifying full-time experience in nursing or healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.

Substitution of Graduate Education for Experience : Additional graduate coursework in nursing or healthcare investigations may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of one year.
