Structural Engineer
Position Summary :

The Structural Engineer will play a key role in performing and overseeing technical designs, development of projects from conceptual to final design, oversee the preparation of contract plans and documents, and mentor junior staff.
The primary focus of this position is bridge engineering; however, there will also be building assignments, typically related to public works-related structures such as wastewater treatment plant structures, pump stations, salt sheds, etc.

Responsibilities :
- Assist in and lead the preparation of bridge and building design documents, including design calculations, AutoCAD plans, specifications, and quantities.
- Prepare formal reports.
- Occasionally take part as a member of a field crew on structural inspections.
- Supervise / coordinate and mentor junior staff.
- Collaborate across internal disciplines and office locations.
Requirements :
- Strong background in structural analysis and theory
- Strong technical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Finite element analysis skills a plus
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Enthusiasm to learn and willingness to take on responsibility
- Willing to work in a collaborative team environment
Education, Certification, and Experience :
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- Massachusetts or Rhode Island Professional Engineer license required
- 7 to 12 years of related engineering experience
- Bridge design experience required, building experience a plus
- MassDOT design experience required, RIDOT experience a plus

Location :
Preferred location is BETA’s Norwood office, with flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to work in-office or remotely up to 2 days per week.
