Job Description and Duties

This position is telework-centered with in-person attendance required at the Region Institutions based on operational needs and training requirements.

Under the clinical direction of Chief Medical Executive and direct supervision of the Food Administrator I / II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Registered Dietitian, CF provides medical nutrition therapy to patients in a correctional health care facility.

The Registered Dietitian, CF plans and organizes dietary activity and provides medical nutritional therapy, writes and reviews menus, authorizes substitution or modification of special diets, serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT), and provides counseling to patients.

The Registered Dietitian, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates, and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Minimum Qualifications :

Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Applicants with proof of eligibility to apply for registration will be admitted to the examination but must become registered to be eligible for appointment.)

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
