SCOPE OF WORK :

This position will prepare and serve food according to the facility menu. The Food Service Aide will assist in assuring proper

receiving, storage, preparation, serving sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Preps food by methods that conserve nutritive value, flavor and palatability.

Prepares, portions, and / or serves food using proper measuring equipment and serving utensils, while maintaining quality.

Ensures all food items are handled properly to meet safety and sanitation standards, according to State and Federal

regulations. Properly stores and refrigerates necessary items. Ensures that foods are cooked to the appropriate

temperatures according to the latest FDA (Food and Drug Administration) standards.

Wraps, labels, dates, and freezes any leftover foods that are not scheduled for use in the immediate future.

Cleans and sanitizes equipment and food preparation area using the appropriate cleaning methods, and following

established procedures and cleaning schedules.

Practices safety, infection control and emergency procedures according to facility guidelines.

Other duties as assigned. (Essential duties may vary for this position. Reasonable accommodation will be made when

Prepare food following standardized recipes.

Read, understand, and follow menu spreadsheets.

Work cooperative with others and follow directions and completes tasks in a timely manner.

Maintain a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.

Communicate effectively and interact in a manner that is courteous, considerate, and cooperative when communicating

with all staff.

Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.

Adhere to and support the center's practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.

Ensure sanitary conditions in the kitchen.

Be flexible in schedule of work hours.

Basic concepts for regular, texture modified and dietary measures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Must possess a High School Diploma, or GED.

Must possess a Food Handler's Certification.

Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct

participant contact.

Must have valid Class C - California Driver's License.

WORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT :

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing

the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to

perform the essential functions. This position is typically situated indoors. Hazards typical to an institutional kitchen such as

hot water with dishwasher, sharp objects, electrical equipment, wet floors, frequent exposure to warm temperatures. Cleaning

supplies may be potentially hazardous during handling so necessary precautions should be taken. Moderate to heavy physical

conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be on their feet most of the time. Involves walking,

bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and handling. Pushing and pulling of carts and racks.

The employee is frequently required to frequently lift up to 24 lbs. Occasionally lift between 25-or more lbs.

NOTE : Any lifting of 35 lbs. or more requires the use of an assistive device and / or physical assistance.

Must be able to drive.
