Position Overview
The RN Manager of the Operating Room is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the surgical unit, ensuring high standards of patient care and efficient management of resources.
This role is pivotal in coordinating between various departments, leading the nursing staff, and promoting a collaborative and positive environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the nursing staff in the Operating Room, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Oversee patient care activities during surgical procedures and ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
- Coordinate schedules and staffing to meet surgical needs and patient volumes.
- Develop and implement operational processes to enhance patient safety and care quality.
- Facilitate training and mentorship for nursing staff, fostering professional development and competency.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Monitor budgetary constraints and manage resources efficiently to maintain quality care.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, responding to patient feedback and concerns.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews to promote a transparent and productive workplace.
Essential Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
- CNR certification or equivalent in Operating Room nursing preferred.
- CPR and ACLS certifications required.
Desired Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role in a surgical setting.
- Extensive knowledge of surgical procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team while managing multiple priorities.
