A law firm in San Diego is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Labor and Employment Counsel Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience counseling employers on a variety of employment-related issues.
They should possess excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, and must be able to anticipate and address client needs independently.
The role requires a solid understanding of California employment law, with a preference for candidates experienced in advising public entities or charter schools.
Key Responsibilities :
- Counseling employers on issues such as medical leaves, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Drafting and reviewing employment policies, procedures, and agreements, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Researching and analyzing employment law issues, providing strategic advice to clients.
- Advising on compliance with employment regulations, including those related to wage and hour laws, employee classifications, and workplace accommodations.
- Representing clients in negotiations, administrative hearings, and dispute resolutions related to employment matters.
- Monitoring legal developments in labor and employment law to provide up-to-date advice to clients.
- Building strong client relationships through effective communication and anticipating their needs proactively.
Requirements :
- Must have California Bar admission in good standing.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience counseling employers on labor and employment matters.
- Experience advising public entity clients and / or charter schools is a plus.
- Proven ability to independently research and analyze complex employment law issues.
- Strong understanding of California and federal employment laws.
Education :
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Excellent academic credentials are required.
Certifications :
California Bar License is required.
