About NWFEM

Northwest Facilities & Equipment Maintenance (NWFEM) provides commercial equipment and facilities maintenance and repair for quick-serve restaurants and commercial businesses in the Portland, OR and Seattle, WA metropolitan areas.

Job Summary

NWFEM is growing and looking to bring on and Accounting Manager. Someone who is excited by creating systems and processes, who is very versed in QuickBooks Online, and has developed systems for small businesses before.

For many years NWFEM has used contract / fractional accounting professionals and that has worked well for us. Moving forward as we continue to grow, we are looking for the right person to be with us full time, take charge of the accounting team, grow with us, teach, and learn.

Someone who can learn our ways then tell us how we might improve and help us further our understanding of our financials.

We need someone who is excited by new challenges, to help a team grow, and has a proven track record of high organizational skills and communication who can be our go-to person for our accounting needs.

Salary

$85,000 - $100,000 / yr DOE

Shift

Monday - Friday, 9AM 5PM

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting
  • Demonstrated expertise in QuickBooks Online
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor with certification for the 2024 year
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating a team to achieve financial and company goals.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and the Google for business suite.
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass driver's background check

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the accounting team and other office staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to all accounting staff.
  • Financial reporting and analysis, including but not limited to, preparing and analyzing financial statements, reports, budgets, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Creation and implementation of processes and standards to improve and standardize our accounting workflow from start to finish.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial data and assets.
  • Manage the month-end closing process and coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast future performance and support strategic decision-making.
  • Stay current on accounting software and technology, optimizing processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Supervise and / or assist in the following accounting team activities

  • Daily reporting of KPI’s to the leadership team
  • Review weekly full cycle Accounts Payable
  • Sales and Use Tax
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Prepare and enter journal entries for fixed assets, accruals, deferred rent, prepayments, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Fraud check and reviews
  • Credit Card and Payment analysis
  • Customer correspondence via email and phone
  • Processing received payments from customers into QBO
  • Ensure AR is kept up to date, past due is minimized and maintained, customer billing contacts maintained, and relationships built.
  • QBO data is up to date and accurate for all regular accounting practices
  • Accurate processing of payroll
  • GL Insurance and worker’s compensation audits
  • Account for garnishments, PTO requests, and other changes to payroll
  • Create and maintain regular cash flow reporting
  • Other accounting and administrative duties

Salary will be dependent upon experience and skills. NWFEM offers comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage following 60 days (about 2 months) of employment.
