Overview : The Director of Civil Engineering will be responsible for establishing and managing our in-house civil engineering team.
This role demands a strategic leader with extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly in residential real estate development.

Key Responsibilities :
Division Establishment and Strategy :
- Develop a comprehensive plan to establish the in-house civil engineering division, including setting goals, timelines, and budget requirements.
- Create and implement strategic initiatives to ensure the division's long-term success and alignment with the company's overall goals.
- Identify and source necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
Project Management :
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of all civil engineering aspects of residential development projects.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Implement effective project management processes and tools to track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues.
Team Leadership :
- Recruit, hire, and train a high-performing civil engineering team, including engineers, drafters, and support staff.
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and support to the engineering team.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality Control and Compliance :
- Establish and enforce quality control standards and safety protocols for all civil engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
Budget and Financial Management :
- Develop and manage the division's budget, including cost estimation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement and resource allocation.
- Monitor and control project costs to maximize profitability and minimize financial risk.
Stakeholder Engagement :
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, developers, and municipal authorities.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Represent the company in public forums, meetings, and industry events.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on residential real estate development.
- Proven experience in establishing and leading engineering teams and divisions.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and regulations.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in civil engineering software and tools.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
