We are looking for a seasoned Director of Civil Engineering to bring civil engineering in-house, enhancing our ability to deliver top-quality residential projects.

Overview : The Director of Civil Engineering will be responsible for establishing and managing our in-house civil engineering team.

This role demands a strategic leader with extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly in residential real estate development.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successful project delivery, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Division Establishment and Strategy :

• Develop a comprehensive plan to establish the in-house civil engineering division, including setting goals, timelines, and budget requirements.
• Create and implement strategic initiatives to ensure the division's long-term success and alignment with the company's overall goals.
• Identify and source necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.

Project Management :

• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of all civil engineering aspects of residential development projects.
• Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Implement effective project management processes and tools to track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues.

Team Leadership :

• Recruit, hire, and train a high-performing civil engineering team, including engineers, drafters, and support staff.
• Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and support to the engineering team.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality Control and Compliance :

• Establish and enforce quality control standards and safety protocols for all civil engineering activities.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.

Budget and Financial Management :

• Develop and manage the division's budget, including cost estimation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement and resource allocation.
• Monitor and control project costs to maximize profitability and minimize financial risk.

Stakeholder Engagement :

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, developers, and municipal authorities.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Represent the company in public forums, meetings, and industry events.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on residential real estate development.
• Proven experience in establishing and leading engineering teams and divisions.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and regulations.
• Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in civil engineering software and tools.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
