Description :
Performs routine and some special procedure imaging.
Prepares patient for procedures.
Assists radiologists when needed.
Prepares, operates and cares for the equipment being used.
Adheres to established standards of care.
Pursues appropriate continuing education.
Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to established customer service programs.
Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance.
Exercises professional judgments in performance of procedures.
Provides patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Understands and adheres to the Facility Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different
and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images
and required body part questionnaires
Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and / or procedures and produces good
technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality, completeness for the type of
test ordered
Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
Performs quality assurance and calibrations as needed
Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in
the department
Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment and accessories.
Reports all malfunctioning equipment to MRI supervisor
Prints patient CD if needed
Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports / films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systems
Notifies front desk staff upon exam completion
Shows radiologist images and calls report to attending physician and documents communication if necessary (STAT readings)
May be assigned as instructor or preceptor
Introduces themselves and educates each patient or family member regarding the
examination that is ordered
Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and
psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric
groups.
Attends staff meetings and in-services
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Certification / License Requirements :
Technologist must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
ARRT), ARMRIT become ARRT MR certified
BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required
IV certification preferred
MRI safety certification level 2 required
Experience / Education :
Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital based program.
