SSM Health is looking for an MA or LPN to join our Dermatology team!
This is a full time, benefits eligible position on the day shift scheduled for 32 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday 7 : 30a - 5p.
Wednesday 7 : 30a-12 and off Fridays!!!
This opportunity is based at SSM Health 145 N. Main Street.
The selected candidate for this position will be doing the typical clinic rooming process, data entry in exam rooms for doctors, phone messages, paperwork, surgical procedures, lasers etc.
Prior Dermatology experience is not required as the department and will do on the job training for the right candidate.
Candidates with an RMA, CMA, MA, or LPN licensure will be considered. Those who are close to completion of their programs are encouraged to apply!
Job Summary :
Aids the provider in providing quality patient care specific to the age of the patient population served in the practice.
Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the office's standard of care and following office protocol.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements :
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routinely assists provider with patient exams, prepares exam rooms for specific procedures. Accurately maintains appropriate log books and monitors pharmaceutical sample cabinets for expired items.
- Maintains patient medical record by verifying patient information upon each visit including : last name, address, insurance information, and guarantor, filing / scanning all documents into the correct patient's medical record and in the proper location, and providing new patients with required registration forms for completion.
- Aids in the care of the patient by notifying patients of normal test results, returning patient phone calls, scheduling patients for testing, procedures, and referral appointments in a timely manner.
- Collects clinical information by interviewing patient at each visit and recording in medical record, preparing reports for provider to review, collecting clinical information from agencies, referring providers, hospital department, and properly documenting in medical record.
- Routinely services patients by supplying correct information to insurance companies, maintaining confidentiality of patient information at all times, and releasing patient information only if appropriate consent is obtained.
- Performs clinical duties by obtaining vital signs and accurately documenting in medical records, collecting and processing specimens, and performing phlebotomy skills as indicated by completion of training and competency.
- Maintains exam rooms by cleaning and stocking rooms as necessary, ordering supplies, preparing non-disposable instruments for sterilization.
- Schedules patient appointments / rescheduling and cancelling appointments as necessary. Processes incoming phone calls, by answering promptly and directing call to appropriate person.
Takes accurate messages and delivers message or tasks to appropriate person.
- Assists in the billing process by collecting and posting payments for services, balancing cash drawer by counting cash on a daily basis, preparing superbills with proper information prior to appointment, updating financial and personal information of patient at each visit and as requested, entering correct insurance and demographic information into computer at each visit, and entering hospital and office charges, if applicable.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School diploma / GED or 10 years of work experience

- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use / data entry.
- Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot / leg and hand / arm movements.
- Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
- Occasional lifting / carrying and pushing / pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting / moving patients.
- Occasional use of smell to detect / recognize odors.
- Occasional driving.
