Employment Type : Part time Shift : Rotating Shift Description : Cath Lab functions independently as a member of our team of Nurses, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Interventional Cardiologists.
Within our two procedure labs, the RN provides care to patients undergoing elective and emergent invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures.
The lab also performs pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, tilt table tests, transesophageal echocardiograms, and cardioversion procedures.
This role performs a variety of tasks to ensure patient safety and comfort including patient assessment and hemodynamic monitoring, pre procedure preparation and administration of conscious sedation.
What you will do In this Cath lab RN position, you will provide direct patient care to adult though geriatric patient populations.
Address the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Prepare the patient for cardiac catheterization procedures, including performing assessments and monitoring patients during and after procedures.
Set up and maintain sterile field. Manage paperwork, including patient consent forms, lab results and procedure documentation in EPIC.
Perform on the Cath lab procedure team as circulator, scrub, or monitor. Provide care to the critically ill patient with the ability to function independently in a stressful situation.
Provide hemostasis safely and property with or without vascular devices. Routinely enter patient orders and charges, check charges to assure accuracy.
Initiate patient / family teaching as appropriate to age readiness to learn and available Resources. Coordinate nursing care with other health team members.
Assist with Maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assess procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure all appropriate needs of the cardiac Cath lab team are met.
Monitor patient position and assist patient during procedure. Administer conscious sedation during procedure under physician direction.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations. Participate in clinical decision making. Monitor hemodynamics through procedure.
Understand use of supplies and equipment used in various procedures. Participate in on call coverage. Minimum Qualifications + Education : Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.
BSN graduates preferred.+ Licensure : - current licensure as a Registered nurse in state of Connecticut+ Required : Live within a 30 min radius of the facility for on call+ Certification : BLS & ACLS required+ Preferred : Moderate sedation and Cath lab experience strongly preferred Work Schedule : Per Diem Rotating shifts Additional Info : + Face paced environment.
