For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut.

We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services.

Job Summary :

Clinical Supervisor oversees program(s) and / or staff to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective service is delivered by the department(s).

Provides direct patient care that is specific to each patient's needs, including those needs that are age specific. Coordinates with various departments on campus to ensure that milieu needs are being met - including but not limited to external clinical programs, environmental services, infection control, pharmacy and security.

Clinical Supervisor coordinates and oversees services with collaborative providers such as DMHAS and DCF.

Models the effective, efficient operation of the Program by scheduling and assigning work, resolving processing problems, collecting data to monitor progress.

Continually improves quality and productivity by identifying improvement opportunities, and recommending and implementing changes.

Implements and monitors departmental goals and objectives for the work group, by analyzing needs and developing recommendations.

Implement individual performance expectations; coaching, developing of direct reports, and providing input to performance of indirect reports.

  • Works across departments and programs to collaborate on like programs to build consistency and efficiencies.
  • Reviews documentation and medical records to ensure proper care is being provided.

Licensed Clinicians are eligible for a Sign On Bonus, in accordance with program guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in behavioral health related field; Social Work preferred
  • 1 year of supervisory experience, clinical awareness and insight required, 5 years of direct clinical practice preferred
  • Current licensed LCSW, LPC, LMFT or PsyD in the State of CT
  • Strong communication skills required - both written and verbal, Bilingual language skills preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements :

Understanding of external Regulatory agencies and requirements

Ability to lead staff

Effective communication

LEAN daily management experience

Understanding of mental health and substance abuse

Awareness of local resources and understanding of internal and external systems
