THE ROLE

The position : Directly responsible for designing fixturing and automated equipment to aid in the assembly of trailers. These positions also work closely with Plants in order to anticipate and resolve issues.

Develops manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities : WHAT YOULL DO

  • Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Engineer Level I :
  • Design Fixtruing and automated equipment using SolidWorks
  • Prepare Calculations on the proposed machine before completing technical drawings
  • Finalize designs and coordinate with machine shops
  • Assist with equipment assembly, startup, and training
  • Conducts plant visits to assist with project planning and process improvement
  • Responsible for capital expenditure program (budgeting, project planning and implementation).
  • Develops cost reduction, quality and safety enhancement projects / opportunities.
  • Performs payback analysis, obtains quotes and oversees project installation.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency thru analysis and workflow planning
  • Develops manufacturing processes.
  • Confers with equipment vendors on product design and capabilities.
  • Develops corporate engineering strategies.
  • Researches new equipment and processes for future implementation.
  • Leads one to two Manufacturing Engineers (Level I-II).
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

  • Education : A bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of experience and / or education is required for this position
  • Skills :

Basic knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems

  • Asset justification
  • Industrial engineering skills such as work measurement, labor reporting, and plant layout
  • Understanding of building and maintenance contracts including liability issues
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes
  • Computer skills including MS Office and SolidWorks
  • Analytical analysis and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of compliance regulations and codes.
  • Travel : Occasional
