Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL) is the region’s largest nonprofit (501c3) food bank and hunger relief network. FNEFL provides nutritious foods and other essential goods to those in need and strives to improve the quality of life for people living in and around Northeast and North Central Florida by addressing food insecurity, poverty and poor health.

Alongside out network of food distribution, agency and community partners, the Food Bank provides food resources and hope to help all people living in our 12-county service area (Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Levy, Nassau, Putnam, St.

John’s and Union) who struggle to feed themselves and their families. Feeding Northeast Florida works daily to find solutions to address the issues of food insecurity and poverty through awareness, advocacy, education, and action in ways that promote dignity, respect and empowerment.

Position Summary :

The Vice President of Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will assist in the oversight of procurement, strategic operational planning, logistics, risk management, IT, facilities planning and forecasting, and budgeting.

With a focus on balancing efficiency and effectiveness, the VPO works to optimize resources, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement across various departments.

They are a key decision-maker and hold considerable influence over the operational health and scalability of the organization.

The VPO should be comfortable navigating a complex and evolving non-profit organization. They must be committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and will ensure our operations are aligned with and actively participate in FNEFL achieving its vision, mission, and strategic goals, while remaining committed to its values.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Determine optimal inventory flow through network and develop high-level planning models.
  • Plan activities to maintain compliance and change controls in accordance with industry best practices and required standards.
  • Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Distribution Practices, OSHA, USDA, FANO, AIB and other areas of regulatory oversight.
  • Develop effective metrics, KPIs, and monitoring programs.
  • Work cross functionally to identify gaps between teams and ensure a seamless process.
  • Support in implementing stock replenishment parameters and inventory strategies.
  • Lead critical cross functional initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Implement and manage the quality of deliverables.
  • Create and maintain a team-oriented environment through effective coaching and mentoring.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement in operations leading to a pipeline of improvement opportunities.

Job Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain logistics or related field.
  • At least five years’ senior-level leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, communication management, operational planning and analysis, and project management.
  • Knowledge of warehousing operations in a food distribution environment as well as solid knowledge and experience in planning, procurement, inventory, logistics and integrated systems required.
  • Demonstrated experience setting, monitoring and meeting quarterly and annual goals.
  • Budgeting and purchasing experience.
  • Advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, logistics or related field
  • Previous experience with oversight of and planning organizational IT support systems.
  • Previous experience with non-profit or government management.
  • Food sourcing and / or purchasing experience.
  • Prior Cold Chain distribution experience.
  • Feeding America food bank experience.
  • Contract management and negotiation skills and techniques.
  • Financial management, including budgeting highly desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with particular emphasis on cross-functional relationship development.
  • Integrity and the ability to gain the confidence and trust of colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively maintain a culture of continuous improvement is essential.
  • Extensive experience with industry-standard software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • NetSuite experience strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, and regulations related to HR, OSHA and DOT

Work Environment :

This position is in an office / warehouse environment and requires a flexible schedule and travel to accommodate FNEFL events.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to all weather conditions. In instances of a federal, state, or local declared emergency, FNEFL is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder;

all employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.
