This position will provide Safety to all company operations and will be expected to spend approximately 75% of their time in the field.
This position will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to the safety of our employees and the traveling public in the State of Georgia.
Below are the duties that are priorities to the individual selected for the position :
- Implement and supervise company safety program and ensure compliance with OSHA job site safety requirements.
- Perform jobsite safety audits and report findings to safety leadership.
- Provide training and be competent in : Fall Protection, Excavations, Confined Spaces, Traffic Control, and all associated Road Construction Hazards.
- Conduct post incident / accident investigations and identifying possible causes and solutions.
- Coordinate initial medical care for injured employees and accompany them to medical care facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
General understanding of road construction including bridge, grading, asphalt construction, asphalt plant operations would be preferred.
Requirements
- Must have on-the-job experience in safety training.
- High school diploma (minimum) with a strong preference for an advanced degree in Safety / Construction.
- Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and recordkeeping, have demonstrated injury management skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, from hourly employees to management.
- The ability to work weekends and nights.
Preferred
- OSHA 500 Trainer
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Required Work Experience
3 years or more safety experience in road and highway construction.
