Job Description
The Security Officer reports to the Medical Center Security Manager. Under general supervision, the Security Officer monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors.
Ability to communicate tactfully with the general public. Knowledge of methods of security in buildings and grounds institution.
Performs routine and repetitive duties following clearly prescribed standards and practices as set forth by the Manager of Hospital Security.
Work involves shift work and some overtime. Must be able to use tact and communicate clearly with public.
Additional Job Description
Education : A high school diploma and two years experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
Eligible for certification by the Department of Public Safety in accordance with Section 23-6-240 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws within the first 12 months of employment required.
Completion and certification by the International Association for Security and Safety (IAHSS) course within one year of employment, with re-certification every three years thereafter.
Valid SC Driver's license required.
