This job parks patient cars being treated by the Emergency Room, Radiation Oncology and Physical Medicine Departments. Performs specific duties which may vary depending upon department and location

Education

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - Relevant experience driving manual shift and automatic vehicles

Certifications

Required - Valid driver's license in the state of practice

Must have and maintain an excellent driving record

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Must be able to use sound judgment and perform duties calmly and efficiently in high pressure situations.
• Ability to transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Job Duties

• Pleasantly greets patients arriving at Ochsner and parks their vehicle as needed.
• Transports patients and visitors to and from destinations throughout the campus.
• Documents and maintains accurate tickets on vehicles to ensure speedy vehicle retrieval.
• Calls and collaborates with the Emergency Room, Physical Medicine, Radiation Oncology or other escort services as needed to meet patient expectations.
• Coordinates parking appropriately with Security to ensure patient's needs are fulfilled in a timely manner.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to : respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
