Position Summary : We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Material Handler to join our team at our countertop fabrication shop.
The Material Handler will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and management of materials used in the fabrication process.
This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities :
Material Handling : Load, unload, and transport raw materials, such as slabs of granite, marble, quartz, and other natural stones, within the shop using appropriate equipment (e.
g., forklifts, cranes, and hand trucks).
- Inventory Management : Track and manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products. Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely reporting of inventory status.
- Quality Inspection : Inspect materials for defects or damage upon arrival and before processing. Report any quality issues to the supervisor.
- Equipment Operation : Safely operate material handling equipment and tools. Perform routine maintenance and report any malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Shop Organization : Maintain an organized and clean work environment. Ensure materials are stored properly and safely to prevent damage or accidents.
- Support Fabrication Team : Assist fabricators and installers by preparing materials for cutting, polishing, and finishing processes.
Coordinate with the team to meet production schedules and deadlines.
Safety Compliance : Follow all safety protocols and guidelines. Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to a culture of safety within the shop.
Qualifications :
- Experience : Previous experience in material handling, preferably in a countertop fabrication shop or similar environment, is highly desirable.
- Physical Requirements : Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (up to 75 lbs) regularly. Stamina to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.
- Skills : Proficiency in operating forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment. Basic understanding of inventory management practices.
- Attention to Detail : Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect materials for quality and accuracy.
- Safety Awareness : Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following all safety protocols.
- Team Player : Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adaptability : Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
