Position Highlights : R4 Medical-Surgical
- Number of beds on unit : 15 units, can flex up to 20
- Patient population : Medical-surgical, variety of diagnoses. Adult population over 17 years of age. Semi-private rooms.
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 5-6
- Department culture and resources : Fast paced unit with medically complex patients. Strong communication and supportive teamwork are crucial for patient care and staff satisfaction.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment : Assessment, medication administration, IV insertion, ADL needs. Basic BLS and ACLS required.
- Responsibilities : Assessment, plan of care development, ensuring patient and employee safety, communication and collaboration with healthcare team, patient education and documentation.
- Shift responsibilities : Patient bedside shift report, delegation of tasks, basic RN patient care activities, medication administration, patient safety measures, positive work environment promotion, prompt response to patient needs, critical thinking and nursing judgment, effective time management for patient admission / discharge process.
