Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is seeking candidates for the position of Systems Engineering Manager 2 in the Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) located in Dulles, VA.

The new manager will be responsible for managing technical personnel in our department with a size of approximately 18 team members.

Responsibilities include ensuring qualified personnel are assigned to meet staffing needs, and tracking and executing peer reviews for major program events.

The role encompasses all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching / mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.

This role comprises approximately 20% functional management and 80% direct charge program work, which includes System Engineering (SE) technical work and / or leadership, such as IPT leadership, technical lead, and / or SE mission.

The functional role will involve providing cross-program collaboration to leverage technologies or designs.

Basic Qualifications :

• U.S. Citizenship with active Top Secret Clearance at time of application, with the ability to obtain SCI.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 9+ years, Masters Degree with 7 years, or PhD with 5 years.
• Experience in Systems Engineering for mission critical space applications.
• Proficiency in related engineering programs, Microsoft Office or equivalent document generation programs, Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent collaboration tool.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience leading, supporting, and / or operating activities for space missions within NSS.
• Experience in systems engineering functional management or demonstrated leadership experience.
• Experience balancing workforce versus budget and SE staffing for multiple programs.
• Experience developing career development plans for staff at various experience levels.
• Experience with the complete space mission development life cycle.
• Multi-discipline space engineering experience interfacing with team members in traditional Spacecraft subsystems.

Salary Range : $151,900 - $227,900
