American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med / Surg RN with an active ND or compact license, BLS certification, and recent acute care experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is on a 30-bed Med Surg unit in an acute care hospital settingUnit specializes in post-surgical care including total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, and medical overflowDay shift, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requiredNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 on days and 1 : 5-6 on nightsFirst to float to medical and telemetry units as neededNo requirement to titrate drips, but occasional heparin drips, PCA pump, and TPN encounteredUtilizes Epic EMR, prior experience preferredRemote telemetry packs are used with monitor techs interpreting stripsResponsibilities include bedside shift reporting and managing post-op patients with drains and ostomiesCharge nurse available on all shifts; night charge may take low-acuity assignmentsUnit is supported by nurse aids / patient care techs at a 1 : 12 ratioRespiratory therapists handle all RT treatments; nurses manage nasal cannula oxygenFlexible scrub color allowedClose-knit team environment with supportive cultureHoliday coverage required as neededRTO requests must be submitted up front for seven or fewer days per 13-week contract; no additional RTO will be approvedFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active ND or compact RN license in hand at time of applicationCurrent BLS certification requiredMinimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg acute care experienceSurgical, post-op, or early ambulation experience preferredMust provide two professional references : one from a recent supervisor (last 12 months) and one from a peer or supervisor (within past 3 years)Cannot have been employed full time, part time, or PRN by any facility affiliated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity, in the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
