CNN Sports Intern : ATL - Fall 2024

Your New Role

This internship will be located in the ATL area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule.

CNN Sports is looking for an all-star intern to experience, learn, and assist in sports newsgathering and production for all CNN platforms : TV and digital.

We are made up of enthusiastic journalists who produce content airing on CNN's domestic and international television networks, as well as CNN.

com. CNN Sports produces CNN International's premier sports show, CNN World Sport, airing multiple times daily. In addition to creating content airing on CNN, we produce the daily show TNT Sports Tonight airing on truTV.

Your Role Accountabilities

Assist our sports newsgathering team by watching events and press conferences, then alerting key moments and soundbites for the network to use on linear and digital platforms.

Monitor social media for daily news reactions, statements, and fresh video elements.

Provide support to the CNN World Sport show team by creating graphic elements, transcribing interviews, researching stories, and gathering video elements for edit.

Coordinate daily game recordings by monitoring video quality and router sources.

Copyedit anchor scripts and network banners.

Assist with basic administrative and production tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

Successful candidates will demonstrate a knowledge of and active participation in social media as a news tool.

Passion for sports and a strong interest in storytelling.

Experience creating written, audio and / or video content.

Interest in sport that appeals to an international audience such as soccer, cricket, Formula 1, golf, tennis, athletics, cycling and more.

Proficient with Adobe Premiere (or similar) video editing software.

Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)

Must be a Junior, Senior or Graduate Student (18 years or older)

Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA)

What to know before applying :

The duration of the program is 10 weeks

Program dates :

Start Date : October 7th

End Date : December 13th

Interns will be expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity .

Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired.

Relocation is not provided.

Interviewing will take place from July through Late August. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position.
