Job Description

Overview

This classification ensures that strategic priorities and projects are executed effectively and efficiently. This position oversees strategic priorities and projects and develops and maintains priorities and project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of priorities and project activities.
  • Ensures that strategic priorities and projects produce the specified results in the annual workplan(s) to the required standard of quality and within the timeline and budget parameters.
  • Oversees strategic priorities and project pipeline development and budget monitoring.
  • Conducts regular reviews to ensure accountability of all strategic priorities and projects activities and accurate and timely reporting.
  • Coordinates and completes strategic priorities and projects on time within budget and within scope.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure all aspects of each strategic priority and project are compatible.
  • Serves as a key member of the Superintendent’s executive cabinet, acting as a thought leader and spokesperson on behalf of HCS schools and students.
  • Anticipates and assures that appropriate plans are in place and executed for Superintendent meetings and events.
  • Facilitates external relationships with community groups, policymakers, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • Interacts with government, community, industry officials, and the Board of Education in the representation and development of strategic program initiatives.
  • Participates with the Superintendent and other senior staff in strategic planning, policy development, and problem resolution of complex issues and needs.
  • Assists with matters related to policy development, legislation intergovernmental relations, and lobbying with exceptional analytical communication skills.
  • Manages change to the strategic priority and project scope and schedule.
  • Develops detailed strategic priorities project plans to monitor and track progress.
  • Assists in the definition of strategic priorities and project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develops spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to communicate strategic priorities and plans.
  • Serves as liaison between executive cabinet and a variety of stakeholders regarding strategic priorities and projects.
  • Performs an array of administrative tasks from managing strategic priorities and projects, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
  • Collaborates with executive team members to determine and prioritize strategies.
  • Provides department leaders with recommendations and consultation to improve communications and alignment to strategic priorities.
  • Brings together multiple stakeholders and helps drive decisions.
  • Coordinates strategic meetings with key stakeholders to move strategic priorities forward and maintain strong relationships.
  • Researches, benchmarks, analyzes data, and makes recommendations.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Attends work as scheduled and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law and Code of Professional Conduct as defined by Board Policy 5.6011.
  • Uses computers and other technology to enter and access information related to essential job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attends meetings and training as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge / Education / Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s or advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of work experience that includes progressively responsible management / leadership-level experience.
  • Experience managing, designing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plan implementation.
  • Substantial experience in strategic projects and communication preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

  • Proven ability to write reports, program documents, and deliver presentations.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation : Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
