GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring all areas of facility and parking areas in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
To provide building and grounds security. To assist the nursing department as needed, provide support and security to our patients, visitors, and employees, and assist with light housekeeping and maintenance duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess basic reading and writing skills. Ability to understand written instructions, receive and transmit information normally acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent. (GED)
Ability to comprehend and fulfill requirements related to safety regulations, security procedures, and hospital policies and procedures acquired through on-the-job training.
Must possess good interpersonal communication skills and effectively resolve hostile situations.
Must meet requirements of pre-employment drug test

Previous experience in security and / or safety is preferred.

Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Physical : Prolonged walking and standing in order to patrol hospital area. Manual dexterity is necessary in order to document incidents and check locked doors.
A potential for reaching and grasping may be necessary to escort uncooperative individuals off hospital grounds. Moderate lifting.
50#) May occasionally push video equipment to training location.
Mental / Visual : Incumbent must make quick decisions and apply safety / security knowledge in emergency situations. Ability to confront hostile situations and resolve tactfully and calmly.
Ability to recognize and later describe persons or vehicles that may be involved in problems associated with hospital safety and / or security.
Corrected vision if needed.
Environment : Normal office environment while documenting incidents and completing required paperwork. Exposure to outside weather conditions in order to monitor parking lot and perform security checks on building.
Potential exposure to chemicals, fire, and smoke when responding to emergency calls.
Equipment : Daily use of two-way radios, beeper, and telephone. Use of training materials such as VCR and television. Fire extinguisher equipment as needed.
