Location : Fair Oaks Hospital

The Cardiac Stress Technician under the direct supervision of the site physician or physician extender, performs various duties related to stress testing which include but are not limited to patient preparation, assisting with the administration of exercise and pharmacological stress tests, IV insertion, ECG placement and interpretation, Holter monitor placement (where applicable).

Documents patient information in the E, and demonstrates teamwork by communicating effectively and working cooperatively with others to optimize job performance and foster productive, working relationships.

Reviews patient history to determine appropriate testing, including women of child-bearing age. Obtains and documents routine vital signs.

Be knowledgeable about and assists with the various types of testing conducted in the cardiac diagnostic sites. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum including patient and family education All patient care and interactions are patient and family-centered.

Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines.

Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.

Responsibilities :

• Assists radiation safety by maintaining safe practices.
• Assists team and customers with prompt room turnover.
• Recognizes adverse clinical situations and helps other personnel to do so.
• Accurately implements computer orders for all Interventional Radiology functions.
• Extends additional support as required to patients, family members and other staff.
• Supports departmental cost savings strategies by assisting in efficient patient care.
• Anticipates procedure flow and works with other team members to produce the highest quality care.
• Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test enhancing solution, under the American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements :

• Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start; American Registered Radiologic Technologists registry eligible. American Registered Radiologic Technologists certification must be obtained within one year of hire
• Licensure - Licensed Radiologic Technologist Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Radiologic Technologist required only if the position is located in a free standing center not affiliated with an Inova Health System Hospital
• Experience - None required
• Education - Vocational / Technical in the area of study in Radiologic Technology; Graduate of an accredited school of Radiography
