Job Description : As a Life Skills Instructor / Aide , you will provide one-on-one support to an individual with disabilities, focusing on enhancing their independence through practical life skills.
You will assist with transportation to the grocery store and work, help prepare meals, and support the individual in setting and achieving SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for personal growth.
Being comfortable with pets is essential, as the individual has animals in the home. Responsibilities : Provide transportation to essential locations such as the grocery store and workplace, ensuring safety and punctuality ( mileage is paid for travel during your shift ).
Assist with meal preparation, ensuring the individual has nutritious options and teaching basic cooking skills. Help set and work towards SMART goals that foster independence in areas such as time management, budgeting, and self-care.
Create a positive, encouraging environment to help build confidence and self-sufficiency. Giving reminders to client for light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized living space.
Be comfortable around pets. Communicate regularly with family members or team members to coordinate care and track progress toward goals.
What We’re Looking For : A compassionate and patient individual who is passionate about teaching life skills and fostering independence.
Comfortable with pets and enjoys a home environment with animals. A reliable person with strong communication skills who can provide consistent support and reminders.
Experience in working with individuals with disabilities is preferred, particularly in teaching life skills, but we are open to training the right candidate.
A goal-oriented individual who can help the person served achieve their SMART goals . Requirements : Must be 18 years or older.
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass a background check.
Must be comfortable with pets in the home. Physical ability to assist with daily living tasks and transportation needs. Hours : This position offers 6 hours per week , with flexible scheduling options.
