What it is :

The System Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and administration of information technology resources such as servers, cloud infrastructure, software, and computer systems to ensure high levels of availability and security throughout the enterprise.

Reporting to the Sr. IT Manager, this role position interacts with other team members participating in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure availability, support, and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

What you'll do :

This is a salary, exempt, full-time role. Your essential duties and responsibilities will consist of :

  • Interacts with team members on support related issues in a technical support role
  • Responds to requests from users via telephone, e-mail, walk-ins and chat in a courteous manner, and creates relevant documentation as needed
  • Assists with documenting processes and procedures
  • Creates required reports in response to business user needs
  • Recommends software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and / or purchases
  • Utilizes existing documentation to complete recurring tasks
  • Manages maintenance of software and systems in organization
  • Assists with communications (e-mail, IM, etc.) and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company website, intranet, and Internet applications
  • Monitors systems to ensure they have the latest updates and security patches
  • Assists in troubleshooting of internal and datacenter network / server issues
  • Deploys workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all security systems
  • Monitors back-ups of servers and related systems
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Ensures adherence to company I.T. policies and procedures
  • Manages end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • On-call for production systems support
  • Minimal travel required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an essential function of the position; being physically present in the work environment is an essential job function.

To succeed in this role, the System Administrator will need a particular skill set. For this position, those include :

1. Other Essential Skills

  • Working technical knowledge of networking protocols and standards such as TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SFTP, FTPS, SSH, Subnetting, VLAN's, VPN's (Site-to-Site and client access), QoS, etc.
  • Working knowledge of configuring Switches, Routers and Firewalls. Cisco / Meraki / Palo Alto / etc.
  • Cisco Secure Client VPN on Meraki and other VPN services.
  • Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure Networking, VM, backups, security, etc.
  • Veeam Backup and Recovery for Azure and VMWare
  • Security-focused individual; familiar with security best practices and MFA, WAF, etc
  • Tenable Vulnerability Management and other vulnerability tools.
  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory, Security & Compliance Center, Teams)
  • Mimecast, EncryptTitan, Exclaimer, and other email enhancement suites.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience administering Active Directory (ADFS, ADDS, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of provisioning and maintaining Microsoft Dynamics CRM on-premises (Claims IFD) is a plus.
  • Salesforce Administration experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare vSphere, Azure, Serverless, AWS, etc.
  • Microsoft SQL, on-prem and Azure, abilities (Writing queries, views, stored procedures, SSIS, etc.) and SQL administration (Backup / Restore, Jobs, etc)
  • Working knowledge of creating, modifying, and deploying scripts like PowerShell and / or other scripting tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems 2008-2022 and Windows 10 / 11 administration.
  • Managing File and Print Servers. Papercut is a plus.
  • Working with web servers IIS, Apache / LAMP Stack, Basic HTML / PHP, load balancers, CDN, WAF.
  • SSL, SSO, Ping Identity, and Azure App certificates and secrets, as well as monitoring / updating them.
  • Position includes providing Server Administration as well as Desktop and Network Administration
  • Management of cloud-based telecommunication systems. Five9 and Zoom Contact Center are a plus.
  • Ability to work well with others and follow any task to its logical completion with minimal intervention from others.
  • Practiced interpersonal relations and oral presentation skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to seamlessly perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail.
  • AI Skills such as Prompting, RAG, GPT, Gemini, etc., are a plus.
  • Experience SOC2 and CIS 8 Security Controls
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Education, Certifications, and Software Skills

  • A college diploma or university degree in the field of computer science with two years of experience or four years of experience in information technology and at least two years of equivalent work experience as a system administrator.
  • Industry certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, Salesforce, etc are desirable
