Job Summary
Responsible for supporting all aspects of the retail area. Maintains the supplies, general appearance, cleanliness and sanitation of the cafeteria server and dining room.
Frequently stocks retail coolers, serves food, and collects and distributes supplies to retail outlets.
Job Specific Duties
- Assists customers / patients in a friendly and polite manner whenever in need of assistance.Â
- Checks service stations and replenishes supplies (, coffee, ice, crackers, breads, pastries, beverages, condiment containers, paper napkins, trays, plastic ware) as needed.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by responding to customer needs while demonstrating a positive attitude.Â
- Ensures that food is served at safe and proper temperatures (hot food hot, cold food cold).Â
- Labels, dates, and checks food items for freshness and rotates them following the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.Â
- Maintains the overall department, including equipment (, coffee machines, ice maker, counters, cafeteria floor, reach in coolers and dining room tables) in a clean and sanitized condition.
- Serves food to customers at designated service stations as needed.Â
- Greets customers and takes food order; provides information about products, ingredients and looks for opportunity to "up-sell" products.Â
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.Â
- Occasionally operates register and receives payment in cash or credit cards. Accurately counts and provides change to customers and follows all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures.Â
- Properly utilizes panini press, turbo chef, and toaster when warming and preparing food items.Â
- Ensures that all food items are maintained at correct temperatures and keeps records of food and equipment temperatures accordingly.Â
- Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products and maintains all logs (sanitation, food temps, disinfecting, cleaning) up to date.Â
- Ensures that workstations are maintained clean and fully stocked (register stands, hot buffet station, hot and cold wells, salad bars and beverage stations.)Â
- Covers all positions while supporting coworker's breaks.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
Completion of SafeStaff Food handler Training Program required within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High School or Equivalent highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate sufficiently well in English both verbally and in writing to request supplies and properly label food items.
- Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers.
- Basic knowledge in use of computers and printers, and / or ability to learn appropriate software application(s).
- Knowledge of Spanish is helpful.
- Able to follow simple instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks.
- Able to use and maintain the food service equipment (, microwave, blender, thermometer, refrigerator, and scale).
- Able to build interpersonal relationships and work in a team-oriented environment; able to collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Able to interact with the public and coworkers in a positive, friendly, and enthusiastic manner.
- Able to learn quickly and maintain knowledge of the establishment's products and procedures.
- Able to learn and follow all beverage recipes to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, and cost.
- Able and available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and / or holidays.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task (verifying and preparing multiple coffee / drink / food orders)
