Senior Business Systems Analyst

A top government client in Richmond, VA is currently seeking a new Senior Business Systems Analyst to join their growing team.

In this role, the Senior Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for playing a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business objectives and technological solutions, including analyzing complex business processes, requirements elicitation and documentation, internal review of other BSA documentation, and the creation or review of comprehensive meeting minutes during project related meetings.

Responsibilities :

The Senior Business Systems Analyst will :

• Analyze and evaluate business processes
• Analyze business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper systems requirements specifications
• Consult with personnel from various departments to identify areas for the development of technical solutions to automate and / or improve business processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and improve operational efficiency
• Bridge communication between business users and IT teams and maintaining ongoing communication with management
• Monitor and report on the progress of business initiatives and providing guidance and support to other Business Analysts
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications :

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with a focus on IT development projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• A proven track record of successfully analyzing and documenting complex business processes
• A proven experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements
• Experience in creating comprehensive and clear documentation
• Proficiency in Modeling techniques, requirements gathering, and documentation
• Experience in translating business requirements into detailed system specifications
• Proficiency in Business Modeling and Analysis tools, such as Microsoft Visio, Lucid Chart, or similar
• Familiarity with collaboration tools and Project Management software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

Desired Skills :

• 12+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, with a focus on IT development projects.
• Master's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• One or more certifications related to business analysis (CBAP, CCBA, etc.)
• Strong understanding of Software Development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
• Experience in reverse engineering Legacy COBOL / Visual Basic / MS Access applications to extract business rules and workflows
• An understanding of Quality Assurance processes and methodologies
• Familiarity with Project Management concepts and practices
