We are actively seeking a passionate and qualified School Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our educational team for the 2024-2025 school year.
This full-time, W2 contracted position involves working closely with students, staff, and parents to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the school munity.
The School Nurse will be responsible for assessing and treating student illnesses and injuries, conducting state-required health screenings, managing health records, and providing emergency care when needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Daily Student Care :
- Provide immediate care to students experiencing illness, injuries, or medical emergencies.
- Administer first aid, manage chronic conditions, and monitor students with ongoing health needs.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers to develop and implement care plans for students with medical conditions.
Health Screenings & Assessments :
- Conduct yearly state-mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth screenings, etc.).
- Identify potential health concerns and make referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
Medication Administration :
- Administer prescribed medications to students and maintain accurate documentation.
- Train and supervise staff on emergency medication protocols (i.e., EpiPens, asthma inhalers).
Health Education & Prevention :
- Provide health education to students, staff, and parents on topics such as hygiene, disease prevention, and nutrition.
- Monitor and manage municable diseases within the school munity, following PA Department of Health guidelines.
Record Keeping & pliance :
- Maintain up-to-date health records for all students, including immunization records, screenings, and health histories.
- Ensure pliance with state health regulations and school policies, including PA clearances.
- Report health data to school administration and state agencies as required.
Qualifications : Licensure :
Licensure :
Active RN (Registered Nurse) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license in Pennsylvania.
Clearances :
Must possess required PA clearances (e.g., Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Background Check).
Preferred Experience :
- Previous experience in pediatric, munity, or school nursing is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of health regulations and emergency response in a school setting.
Skills :
- Excellent munication and interpersonal skills to work with students, families, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills for managing health records and multitasking in a busy school environment.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and provide effective care.
