Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to help grow our environmental practice throughout Florida, from our growing Tampa office.

Join FNI and help grow a team dedicated to delivering projects that improve our environment and the communities we serve.

Interested persons should have 8-10 years’ experience assisting with and leading projects with a focus on environmental science, water resources, wetland and stormwater state and federal permitting, or similar disciplines.

This is a seller-doer role with an emphasis on client service, technical expertise, and quality, with a little fun thrown in.

The primary responsibly will be to help win, lead, and successfully deliver environmental based projects in Florida, but will also assist our environmental and coastal science team with projects nationwide.

This role requires :

  • Experience managing and leading environmental science and permitting based projects involving such disciplines as : wetland ecology and permitting, stormwater management and permitting, water resource / quality, wildlife biology, resource management and restoration, coastal resilience, and marine ecology.
  • Experience with wetland delineation and permitting (, Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act; Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act), stormwater permitting (, Phase I and II MS4;

NPDES), and / or threatened and endangered species surveys.

  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor rising scientists and engineers.
  • Experience in leading or assisting in the preparation of scopes and fee estimates and facilitating project delivery and client service on time and within budget.
  • Interaction with federal, state and local government agencies.
  • Environmental data analysis and interpretation including the use of statistics and an emphasis on data quality.
  • Familiarity and understanding of Florida environmental regulations.
  • Ability to conduct field work in typical Florida climate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years’ experience with majority of time spent leading teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in the standard suite of Microsoft Office products.
  • Works well in a team environment, is responsive, and has strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of ACOE, EPA, and FDEP regulatory and permitting processes.
