GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision of the Chief of Information Technology or designee, this position is responsible for the oversight of the maintenance department and the upkeep of the agency’s facilities, whether leased or owned;
performs a wide range of functions such as supervision of staff, quality assurance, scheduling and preventative maintenance.
This is a supervisory role that performs a full range of assignments and services in the facilities program. The work requires the exercise of a high degree of professional judgment and organizational commitment.
Responsibilities include leading special projects, providing quality assurance, and routine scheduling of preventative maintenance activities.
The Facilities Manager is distinguished from the Facilities Coordinator in that the incumbent in the former class manages and evaluates the work of the professional and technical facilities staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

- Oversee Maintenance Department.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is completed within Turning Point Community Programs’ standards for quality of work.
- Provides on-the-job training of maintenance personnel.
- Tracks and schedules routine maintenance of various sites on an appropriate schedule and as needed.
- Maintains inventory of tools and other supplies.
- Co-chairs agency safety committee.
- Responsible for remediation of all safety hazards as they relate to facilities management and security.
- Active participation in the Title 17 Inspection process for all residential programs, including pre-planning and scheduling.
- Responsible for contracting and coordinating with outside vendors.
- Responsible for scheduling of personnel work hours, daily follow up, and tracking.
- Provides oversight on completion of all projects.
- Troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, plumbing and appliance repairs as well as completion of those repairs.
- Provides construction, wiring, ADA compliance revamping, plumbing work and all other work required to maintain or prepare sites for inspection, opening or continuing operations.
- Provides hazard remediation in relation to CALOSHA regulations and when hazards are reported to the safety chair.
- Ensures all sites are compliant with building and fire codes.
- Provides assistance to the IT department with wiring computer networks and systems.
- Provides supervision and oversight for janitorial crew.
- Responsible for performance management, discipline, hiring and recommendations for action for all subordinate staff.
- Travels between sites; off-site meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM :
A typical way of obtaining the required knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school or a G.
E.D.; five (5) years’ experience performing work within a facilities maintenance or construction environment; and previous experience in a managerial / supervisory role.
Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish desired.
LICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- California driver’s license & current vehicle insurance / registration if driving; and,
- Reliable means of transportation capable of passing vehicle safety inspection if more than five years old excluding all modes of two-wheeled transport inclusive of bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles.
