Manufacturing Supervisor
SUMMARY :
The Department of provides integrated systems and manufacturing machines to our customers using the Define-Design-Deliver philosophy.
The Systems Manufacturing Supervisor is the leader for the Systems Department production floor. The Systems Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for managing the Benchmark, Laser System, and Machine Shop production.
The Systems Manufacturing Supervisor has a proven background in leadership with an understanding of manufacturing processes required to support an automation technology and production assembly, technician, and machinist team.
This position’s duties and responsibilities may involve the performance of manual work.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Project Manufacturing :
- Work in and foster a team environment with engineers, production assemblers and technicians, QA technicians, planning, contract management, machinists, and sales personnel.
- Train and supervise a team of electro-mechanical assemblers and technicians.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing schedules for the Systems group backlog based on coordination with Systems Engineering Manager
- Approve, create, and provide guidance for manufacturing procedures with Systems Engineering support.
- Join meetings created by management discussing project status.
Managing :
- Supervises, organizes, and monitors the Laser Systems, Benchmark, and Model Shop assembly and machinist teams to produce Systems projects and Standard Products on or ahead of schedules and of high quality.
- Creates clear expectations for Systems Manufacturing employees based on experience and roles.
- Set performance goals and provide regular feedback via informal and scheduled reviews.
- Manage department to achieve sales order cost and schedule goals.
- Recruit, hire, and organize training for new assemblers and machinists.
- Develop and report on production floor metrics.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
- Strong background in precision electro-mechanical manufacturing
- Ability to understand electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic models, schematics, and drawings.
- Effective communication skills
- Willing to work on the production floor with employees to facilitate expedited completion of project schedules and resolution of production issues.
- Must be able to work occasionally weekends and overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- Four-year degree preferred.
- 1-2 years+ production floor leadership experience.
- OTHER QUALIFICATIONS :
- Diligence and being flexible to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Initiative-taking with a keen sense of ownership in all areas of responsibility.
- Punctual and dependable attendance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- This position will supervise ten to fifteen direct reports.
