RNs with The Arc Gloucester provide appropriate and responsible medical and supportive services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Position : We have part-time, per diem & full-time RN positions available. We are looking for a RN to support all of the individuals served by The Arc Gloucester, as well as a RN interested in focusing on supervision of 2 medical programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Response to any crisis / emergency situation that may occur with individuals served by the assigned program(s)
- Follow individual cases and maintain appropriate files
- Complete daily log of individuals and current status progress reports, as needed
- Maintain daily RN log
- Oversees special medication requirements
- Assess medical needs in routine care
- Provides prescribed enteral care feedings, prescribed medications, treatments, hydration feedings via G-tubes, J-Tubes, catheter care, and ostomy care as needed.
- Measures & administers prescribed medications via all potential routes of administration
- Assists with transferring individuals in and out of vehicles and into the facility at arrival and departure.
- Performs emergency care, including but not limited to calling 911 for Life Threatening Emergencies and rendering lifesaving interventions such as CPR & First Aid until EMT’s arrive, in compliance with Danielle’s Law.
- Maintains and documents using the Medication Administration Record (MAR) / Electronic MAR (E-MAR) to ensure that each individual receives prescribed routine and PRN medications and treatments on time.
- Reports & documents changes in the individual’s medical condition to supervisors, guardians, residential managers, and the supporting team in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately adheres to and maintains current physician’s orders, annual medical documentation, necessary program and other required documents reflecting changes in the individual’s medical plan in compliance with Individual Service Plan (ISP) & Interdisciplinary (IDT) Plans.
- Adheres to Physician’s Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) and supports individual’s receiving end of life / hospice services.
- Works as a team with other personnel to promote a pleasant, therapeutic, and goal-oriented experience.
- Participates in IDT, ISP, Consultations, agency meetings & training sessions.
- Assists and monitors direct support professionals in caring for the individual’s comfort and safety needs as needed.
- Assists other staff with individualized, professional therapeutic plans and prescriptions, such as therapeutic lifting, positioning, and transfer requirements, as well as while maintaining safety precautions, such as aspiration precautions.
- Maintains a professional rapport with the individual’s supportive team, including but not limited to guardians, parents, residential managers, physician’s, therapists, nurses and other professional caregivers to support the individual’s health, safety, medical and dietary needs.
- Maintain confidentiality
- Comply with the DDD Program Manual, The Arc Gloucester Policies and Procedures Manual and applicable state, local and federal regulations, including any COVID-19 vaccination mandates & policies
- Cooperate and participate in reviews, investigations and inspections
- Occasional management responsibilities, including assisting with trainings, planning, workflow and problem solving
- Complete and maintain required training
- Additional responsibilities as required
Qualifications :
- Current, active New Jersey RN license, in good standing
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and be 18 years of age or older
- Knowledge or experience with supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred
- Must have a current, non-probationary driver’s license with 5 points or less, and deemed acceptable to drive by The Arc Gloucester’s liability insurance company
- Proficient in basic computer, math, reading comprehension and verbal and written communication skills
- Successfully pass initial and ongoing State / Federal Criminal Background checks, including but not limited to Fingerprinting, CARI checks, Central Registry checks, MVR and drug screens
- Certified in CPR / First Aid
Physical Requirements :
While performing the essential functions of this position, the following are required, with or without reasonable accommodation :
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate a computers, phone and other relevant technology.
- Talk, hear and communicate in person, over the phone and using other technologies.
- Physical duties, including but not limited to carrying, driving, general lifting (at least 50 lbs.), assisting with transferring and lifting of individuals, pushing and pulling (resistance of at least 25 lbs.
bending, and cleaning.
