Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Space Simulation team will provide screening and testing of satellite hardware. The lab has the capability to perform testing in the R&D, Proto-Flight, Qualification and Flight test phases.
This will be done utilizing equipment in the lab such as electrodynamic shakers, thermal vacuum chambers, thermal cycling chambers and other equipment to simulate the space environment.
As a Space Simulation Lab Support Technician, you will be responsible for performing various tasks throughout the facility.

Key job responsibilities
- Operation of environmental test chambers (Thermal cycling, vacuum, HALT / HASS)
- Install instrumentation on various types of hardware and fixtures
- Execute electronic test procedures for component and system level testing
- Ensure lab equipment is maintained and calibrated
- Supports some preventative maintenance activities on test equipment and data acquisition systems
- Your work may include contributing to improving SOPs and safety procedures

The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $33.50 / hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure.

A day in the life
A technician in this role will play a valuable part in ensuring hardware is ready to be integrated on a satellite. You will have to be comfortable in a high paced environment and being able to multitask while still being able to produce high quality work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school degree or equivalency certificate
- Minimum 1 year working in test lab or manufacturing environment, using basic hand tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in fast-paced production environment with flight hardware
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Previous vibration test experience using an electrodynamic shaker
- Previous thermal vacuum test experience
- Experience installing instrumentation such as accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.
- Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to rapidly change roles / responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Understanding of 5S
Additional Requirements :
- Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift time : 3 : 00PM-11 : 30PM. Shift will vary, depending on program needs
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Willing to move between locations depending on program needs
- Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
