Various locations, including NYCPS schools and affiliated university
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
- Licensed and appointed New York City Public Schools classroom teacher
- Rated effective / highly effective, according to Danielson’s Framework for TeachingMust have previous experience as a NYCPS Paraprofessional
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time classroom experience
SELECTION CRITERIA :
- Passionate, reflective, and collaborative educator who has a desire for sharing knowledge
- Desire to inspire outstanding candidates to teach for the NYCPS through the Educate to Liberate Paraprofessional program. (ETLPP)
- Effective and engaging communicator; comfortable with public speaking.
- Ability to evaluate and model promising practices in developing teacher effectiveness
- Ability to share effective best practices for a successful classroom experience
- Willingness to educate adult learners
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Evidence of adhering to deadlines and maintaining accurate records of teacher performance
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work closely with paraprofessionals aspiring to become certified teachers
- Willingness to incorporate the values of the Medgar Evers Educate to Liberate Paraprofessional Program
- Communicate with the Medgar Evers Advisor of the ETLPP
- Inspire program participants to accomplish teacher certification
- Use Danielson’s framework rubric to establish best practices with program participants
- Schedule one on one weekly mentorship sessions
- Participate in community-building events to support participant morale
- Keep accurate records of mentee’s progress throughout the semester
- Submit mentoring hours to NYC Public Schools Coordinator by established deadlines
- Schedule monthly check-ins with MEC Advisor and NYCPS Coordinator to discuss progress and additional support

September 2024 June 2025 : up to 10 hours per month.
Days :
Monday-Friday (No Federal Holidays) : 3 : 30pm-8 : 00pm
No Sundays or Federal Holidays
Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY :
Per Session rates as per the relevant union / organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
