We're seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer for a Control Center role. You'll serve as an engineering liaison between DSO and Transmission Providers for switching events, contributing to grid integration.
Candidates with a background in electrical engineering are preferred.
This role includes a blend of remote and in-office work (Cedar Rapids, IA, 2 days / week). Candidates must reside in Iowa.
Responsibilities :
- Work on structured assignments with supervision.
- Participate in Safe Start training for zero injuries philosophy.
- Identify and solve problems within your scope.
- Apply standard practices and procedures for limited-scope problem-solving.
- Understand technical and cost-effective aspects to develop solutions with budget, schedule, and scope.
- Make low-risk decisions based on technical knowledge with guidance.
- Learn about the business environment.
- Collaborate with union employees, contractors, and business unit customers.
- Develop relationships within the department, with customers, and peers.
- Demonstrate awareness of financials and departmental budgeting.
- Understand purchasing procedures and compliance (e.g., SOX).
- Communicate effectively with vendors, construction, operations, and internal stakeholders.
- Learn to document project activities and outcomes.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in accredited Engineering program.
- Preferred : Previous technical / professional experience, internship, or co-op in engineering.
- Covered by Department of Transportation drug / alcohol testing regulations.
Skills :
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer software (email, word processing, spreadsheets, project management).
- Comfortable in a diverse and inclusive environment.
