2025 Co-op, Immuno-Oncology Research

The Role

Oncology Research at Moderna is seeking a talented and motivated co-op to join our efforts in developing new mRNA-based drugs for cancer therapy.

The Co-op will use molecular biology and immunology techniques to characterize Modernas mRNA products, their activity, and / or relevant biomarkers in vitro and in vivo to support early preclinical research, IND-enabling studies, and / or translational research.

The Co-op will work on an individual project that is important to Moderna Oncologys mission with support from an experienced mentor who will provide guidance on projects and career.

Our spring co-op program is from 21st January-20th June 2025. All applicants must be available for the entire duration of the program.

Heres What Youll Do

Receive training in lab research techniques and learn how to design, execute studies, and perform data analysis

Gain knowledge of preclinical cancer models and toxicology models

Perform and / or support experiments and assays such as immune cell isolation, cell culture, ELISA / MSD, flow cytometry, cell-based functional and reporter assays, sample processing and analysis for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies

Use Modernas mRNA products to demonstrate expression and characterize activity of the immuno-oncology therapeutic proteins of interest in relevant in vitro and / or in vivo experimental systems

Maintain an organized work area and electronic lab notebook

Analyze experimental data and present your work at group and team meetings

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

Biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioengineering, and related majors are encouraged to apply.

Previous co-op experience a plus

Technical experience in the following areas is preferred : tissue culture, cell transfection, protein detection methods (MSD, ELISA), assay development and troubleshooting

Prior experience in flow cytometry a plus

The candidate should be self-motivated and possess the desire to drive a project to completion. The co-op must be flexible and can work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent

Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
