About the Department

The Department of Learning Sciences is an interdisciplinary unit dedicated to improving the human condition through data-driven investigation of the learning process, through the effective design of learning innovations, and through the development of learning science professionals in five distinct areas of specialization : Applied Behavior Analysis, Deaf Studies, Educational Psychology, Learning Technologies, and Special Education.

Position Description

The department of Learning Sciences in Georgia State University's College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level to join the program faculty in Special Education beginning August 1, 2025.

More specifically, we seek scholars whose research focuses on interventions and supports for students with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities.

We are particularly interested in research agendas that aim to achieve more just and equitable educational learning opportunities, teaching practices, policies, and systems.

Scholars with expertise in early childhood special education / early intervention, family centered practice, and behavior analytic interventions are encouraged to apply.

Tenure-track faculty are expected to conduct research, teach courses, advise students and participate in university, college, and community service as appropriate.

Ph.D in special education or related fields at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

Candidates should have a strong record of research and applied practical experience in the areas of autism and early childhood special education / early intervention, teacher preparation and / or behavior analytic research.

A program of research and publication, ability to secure grant funding, collegiality and ability to work with others, current Board Certified Behavior Analyst BCBA credential, experience in teacher preparation, teaching experience Preschool-12th grade

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated teaching ability, strong methodological skills, and potential for external funding are required.
