SCOPE :
Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance routines on equipment, fixtures, facilities, and related materials, facilitate security and fire protection;
contribute to the mission of Goodwill by portraying a positive image of the organization, guided by precedent and working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Work from method sheets, diagrams, sketches, prints, schematics, work orders, service manuals, and instructions.
- Travel to Goodwill owned locations to maintain all equipment and machinery and ensure items are in working order. Keep records of repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections.
- Respond to notification of building or store repair problems and determine cause of problems and extent of repairs required.
Replace or repair components, electrical or plumbing equipment, or systems as necessary to keep functional and resolve problems.
Notify Property Manager of need for any repairs, replacements or additions to equipment, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, irrigation, lighting, furnishings, carpeting, mirrors, glass, display racks or shelves, and other equipment or when repairs require vendor or contract services.
Check the installation and test light fixtures, emergency lights, and exit signs, and conformance to electrical codes and standards.
Repair and / or replace broken and burnt out light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, receptacles, switches and related materials.
Maintain inventory of electrical, plumbing, repair, and maintenance equipment and supplies and replace as needed, submit purchase order to supervisor when inventory needs to be replenished.
Move working materials to and from warehouse as needed.
- Complete maintenance records to ensure proper documentation of building maintenance and repairs. Copy and forward maintenance receipts and invoices to Property Manager.
- Assist to move furniture and equipment when required.

- Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
- Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed and maintain required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes, and policies.
- Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
- Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
- Experience and education equivalent to High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of three year experience as a general maintenance worker.
- Must have carpentry skills and own tools.
- Minimal plumbing and electrical skills.
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record for insurability under company insurance and ability to travel to outlying locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Heavy lifting and carrying in excess of 25 lbs.
- Repetitive walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping and bending
- Regular exposure to extreme temperature
- Work from ladders up to 20 feet in height
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED :
Forklift, hand tools, voltage meter, cleaning chemicals and materials, hand and hand power tools, pallet jack, tape measures, gauges, test instruments, and other standard equipment and required personal protective equipment and clothing.
Pay Rate : $18.00 / hour
