POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Individual Giving to join our Development team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage and cultivate individual donors, ensuring their continued support and commitment to PPGNY's mission.

The Director of Individual Giving will play a crucial role in driving our fundraising efforts, building lasting relationships with donors, and securing the financial resources necessary to advance our work.

The Director of Individual Giving develops and leads an individual giving program focused on mid-level and major gifts for Planned Parenthood of Greater New York in Central New York and bordering PA counties.

The Director, Individual Giving will maintain a portfolio of qualified donors, prospects, and discovery work. This position, in conjunction with the Individual Giving team throughout PPGNY, will develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for current donors and prospects.

The Director, Individual Giving will also provide fundraising guidance and support for local volunteers in their fundraising efforts.

The position will be supervised by the Vice President, Individual Giving and Events located in New York City and work closely with the Individual Giving, Annual Fund, Development Operations, Events, and administrative staff throughout PPGNY’s footprint.

This position will provide event and administrative support, as needed. This is a full-time position located in Manhattan and involves travel within New York State about 10% of the time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Portfolio Management (50%)

  • Builds and manages a portfolio of 100+ mid-level and major donors, closing a specific number of gifts each year to meet annual goals and objectives.
  • Increases contributions from individuals by creating and implementing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Participates in regular portfolio review and routinely qualifies donors for further engagement through discovery calls and donor visits.
  • Conceives and implements a strategy to increase contributions from individuals for Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Votes PAC.

Closes a specific number of gifts each year and combines c3 / PAC solicitations when appropriate.

  • Maintains a high level of contact with prospects / donors and strengthens relationships with new, mid-level and major donors.
  • Plans and manages donor recognition and cultivation events to facilitate communication and stewardship of top donors and prospects.

Leadership Support (20%)

  • Partners with the Vice President of Individual Giving and Events, and volunteer leadership on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Ensures that leadership is in regular contact with donors to build relationships and prepare donors for solicitation.
  • Provides fundraising guidance for local volunteers, working to maximize their fundraising efforts. Supports volunteers in their efforts to solicit individual and corporate donors on behalf of PPGNY.

Communication (10%)

Modifies documents authored by the Institutional Giving team for individual giving purposes, including reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and proposals.

Conveys PPGNY’s needs in fresh and persuasive ways.

Planning and Team Work (20%)

  • Works collaboratively with the Individual Giving team to support collective goals, attends fundraising events, and completes other projects as needed.
  • Develops an annual written work plan that sets fundraising goals, outlines the major activities and benchmarks for success with a corresponding timeline.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Knowledgeable about fundraising best practices with a record of accomplishment growing philanthropic revenue and donor engagement.
  • Experience generating visibility and fundraising growth through entrepreneurial approaches.
  • Comfortable working with high-level volunteers from all sectors and knowledge about New York philanthropy and donors.
  • Ability to multi-task with an attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Raiser’s Edge NXT and familiar with donor research practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five years of non-profit fundraising.
  • An ability equal to that usually derived from satisfactory completion of courses required for graduation from an accredited college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree.

$95,000 - $105,000 a year

All positions at PPGNY require :

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis.

These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
