Title : Coordinator II, Educational Media / Instructional
Under general supervision, supports new media specialists / teacher-librarians, supports library media services, and oversees library media technology used in the DeKalb County School District (DCSD)
Essential Functions :

- Assists the Director of Educational Media in determining departmental, system, and school level priorities for all library media services
- Works with the Director of Educational Media & Instructional Materials and school principals in the evaluation of individual school library media programs and participates in providing library media specialist evaluation training to school level administrators
- Serves as district administrator of Destiny, as well as other web-based software applications (i.e. World Book Suite); provides training and support to software users
- Plans, implements, and coordinates professional learning opportunities to support new media specialists / teacher-librarians
- Consults with school library media specialists regarding concerns such as interpersonal relationships, local school issues, and instructional planning while encouraging collaboration with classroom teachers
- Researches, plans, and supervises the implementation of upgrades to existing technology in the library media program and makes information more accessible to students, teachers, and parents Example : Destiny Library Manager, Mitinet
- Analyzes technology issues, determines causes, and teaches solutions in a timely manner through both remote electronic support and on-site visitations
- Serves as the liaison between Educational Media and Information Technology to ensure compatibility of all library technology with the DCSD computer network
- Coordinates District level reports as required by Educational Media & Instructional Materials or the Division of Curriculum and Instruction
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or closely related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university is required.
Minimum of five years managerial / administrative level or school based closely related experience is required.
If no school administration experience is held, five years of progressive managerial / administrative level experience in Library Science is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMIT
Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, NL-5, PL-6 or above required.
If a level L-5, NL-5, PL-6 or above certification is not held, the individual must be eligible for the NPL certificate in educational leadership.
