Long Term Substitute Teacher-Special Education
An ESS long term substitute special education teacher will plan, deliver, and monitor an appropriate instructional program for identified students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings in the absence of a regular teacher.
Responsibilities
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
- Plan and implement routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives for children with disabilities
- Implement IEP for students with disabilities
- Perform data collection on student progress
- Conduct student evaluations
- Participate in PPT meetings
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration
- Perform other duties as directed by school administration

Qualifications
- Valid Connecticut State Department of Education certification in Special Education
- Experience with developmentally appropriate, activity-based teaching and learning
- Experience with implementing an IEP (individualized education plan)
- Experience with data collection and student evaluations
- Demonstrated knowledge of local policies and state and federal laws pertaining to special education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Aptitude, emotional maturity, and stability necessary for working with various types of children and staff
- CT / FBI Criminal History Clearance
- Department of Children and Families Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Record Clearance
- Education Employment Verification - Act 16-67
