A Direct Support Professional is someone who works directly with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities.

At Family First, you will help youth or adults with disabilities gain inclusion in the community, learn daily living skills, and set and achieve their goals.

DSP experience is required.

We currently serve clients in statewide.

Compensation : $22 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Follow a detailed support plan with goals specific to each client’s needs and be respectful of each client’s wishes and personal preferences.
  • Domestic support skills such as : cooking, cleaning, medication assistance, scheduling and attending medical appointments, shopping, transportation, and housing management.
  • Working on an array of goals to support clients in accessing social activities and utilizing community resources.

Community inclusion support will likely include : attending social and volunteering events with client, encouraging client involvement in community, advocating for client, and providing transportation

  • Ensuring client’s health and safety.
  • Working with others in the interest of the individuals we support.
  • Proper documentation compliance in accordance with State of ME regulatory guidelines and practices using the ClearCare / Well Sky phone app.

Qualifications

  • One year of DSP experience is required
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Pass a criminal, drug, and background check.
  • Three references.
  • Own a smartphone.
  • Able to keep online records and communicate via email.
  • Have a valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
  • DSP Certificate required
  • Have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and other training as required per state of Maine or clients’ Individualized Service Plans (ISPs)
  • Have or be willing to obtain up-to-date, CDC-recommended immunizations for healthcare workers including : MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Covid-19, and Seasonal Influenza
