Santa Monica Studio is seeking a Senior Staff Environment Artist for the development of a new unannounced title. This is an opportunity to contribute to the artistic vision and development of a product with a specialized focus on creating environments and level assets. As a Senior Staff Environment Artist, you will collaborate with a wide range of development team members outside of your direct discipline, such as the Art Director, Designers, Technical Artists, Animators, Programmers and Producers, to achieve artistic goals and implementation in relation to design and technological considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive a large game space throughout all aspects of game development : design block out, kit creation, world building, optimization and polish to final shipping quality
• Possess strong time management and prioritization skills — collaborate with Production to manage responsibilities and ensure goals are met from a scope, schedule, or artistic perspective
• Manage requests or information needs regarding any aspect of the environment / level art creation process
• Capable of resolving a wide range of complex artistic development issues for artists and other team members
• Deep understanding of development pipelines and processes with ability to span multiple disciplines
• Independently undertake research and information gathering prior to a new task to ensure game design needs, reference materials, artistic direction and technological considerations are effectively managed to meet defined goals
• Actively advance skill set, abilities and share knowledge by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, conducting general research, developing innovative techniques, and testing new systems or tools

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role is eligible for SIE's top-tier benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), paid time off, wellness program and employee discounts for Sony products. The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$143,700 — $215,500 USD
