Job Description

American Traveler seeks a Physical Therapist for acute care in a community hospital, with Cerner experience preferred and adaptability highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in a community hospital setting with 107 beds
  • Patient population is primarily general Med / Surg and some ICU, with evaluations in the ED as needed
  • Therapists have a typical caseload of 8-10 patients and complete 15 units per day
  • Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM with no weekends or on-call requirements
  • May float to any unit in the hospital including Med / Surg, ICU, and ED
  • Uses Cerner / Powerchart for electronic medical records
  • Main responsibilities include evaluations and continued treatment of Med / Surg and ICU patients, with occasional coverage in the ED
  • Strong team support provided, including Team Leads and Rehab Aides during orientation
  • Extensive orientation includes 3 days in the department plus additional mentorship, with aides available for support during initial weeks
  • Scrub attire must be navy blue or dark green
  • Holiday assignment may include one major and one minor seasonal holiday; blackout dates apply for specific holidays and holiday periods
  • No time off guaranteed before arrival; up to 7 days of time off can be approved
  • Free onsite parking is available
  • Not open to local candidates within a 60 mile radius
  • Permanent staff must wait 6 months before eligibility for travel positions

    • Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy (MSPT or DPT) required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience; 2 years required for first-time travelers
  • Acute care experience preferred but not required—willingness to learn and be trained is essential
  • Team player with a high degree of adaptability and coachability
  • License required if applicable
