The Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring a superb dining experience for each and every Jersey Mike's customer. The Shift Leader will be responsible for leading and exhibiting care in all aspects of customer service, food preparation and store cleanliness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
- Exhibiting the 5 Core Values of 1836 Foods : Integrity, Initiative, Quality, Teamwork, and Servant Leadership
- Teaching teammates how to care for and serve customers.
- Preparing Jersey Mike's highest quality Submarine Sandwiches throughout the day for in-store, online, and pickup customers.
- Ringing orders out on the cash register. Taking orders by phone. Filling and inspecting orders.
- Setting the example for fellow team members in terms of food preparation, customer service, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen items.
- Promoting cooperative effort, a team spirit, and positive morale among the team.
- Delivering excellent customer service including personally greeting guests.
- Performing daily check lists and periodic checks for safety of equipment and to ensure that food is cooked and stored properly;
notifying the General Manager or Assistant Manager promptly if an issue is ever discovered.
- Properly labeling and putting away food deliveries.
- Capable of filling all roles in the team (such as vegetable preparation, cookie and bread baking, slicing subs, sprinkling and wrapping subs, grilling hot subs, cashier, and daily cleaning).
- Speaking to customers about 1836 Foods and Jersey Mike's local charitable efforts and national charity campaigns.
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma or GED certificate preferred though not required, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read check lists and participate in on-the-job training.
- Previous restaurant experience not required; positive attitude and initiative required!
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends where needed.
- Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family.
- Strong communication skills to teach and motivate fellow team members.
- Willingness to learn and grow daily.

- frequently wash hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
