BTC Electronic Components, an FDH Aero Company is a value-add distributor of connectors and manufacturer of custom harness and cable assemblies.

BTC Electronic delivers products to customers that meet established regulations, standards and specifications primarily for the aerospace and defense industries.

The Production Engineer will support Management in the development of manufacturing documentation, processes and through continuous improvement initiatives.

They will also be responsible for various projects including product qualification, product maintenance, tool design and other tasks as they arise.

The primary goal of a production engineer is to maximize efficiency within a company by finding the best use of people, equipment, and facilities.

Production engineers review a company’s current means of production and evaluate where changes must be made to improve product quality while reducing cost.

They must be able to communicate ideas and proposals, as well as train workers on how to change their behavior to achieve maximum efficiency.

Because the job is about being as efficient as possible, a production engineer must be able to work within a budget and account for any expenditure’s made.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides process improvements
  • Sets work standards
  • Evaluates operational costs
  • Validates capital expenditures
  • Documents operational procedures
  • Determines most economical process flows and performs project management functions
  • Identifies, evaluates, and recommends changes or improvements in operational process, procedures, and equipment and provides analysis to support these changes
  • Performs process validation and maintains necessary documentation
  • Assists users in understanding and establishing baseline performance and standards
  • Develops budget and capital expenditure plans for operational improvement
  • Manages and / or participates in project teams to achieve defined objective and deliverables using standardized company processes
  • Develops cost comparisons on alternate processes, parts, tooling, equipment, or systems within operations
  • Performs cost studies, economic comparisons, and justification analysis
  • Lowers the cost of production by eliminating wastes in both manpower and materials
  • Researches, develops, and implements cost reduction program
  • Directs and assists in the preparation of various reports and presentation for field and executive management
  • Develops, maintains, and distributes reports as required
  • Other job duties may include analysis, operations management, logistics, technical sales, and quality control

Qualifications :

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or another relevant field is required
  • A minimum of three to five years of previous employment in electronics industry is preferred
  • Experience in the field of connectors or cable assembly is highly preferred
  • Business Acumen & Analysis : Will have keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with business situations in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome.

Will display thoughtful analysis, clear logic underlying business decisions, pay close attention to key dimensions of implementation and operation, and be disciplined in performance management.

Solidworks experience preferred.

  • Ability to design, source, and build tooling and fixtures in-house
  • Process automation and mechanical design automation experience
  • Manufacturing knowledge of injection molding, casting, machining, and 3D printing
  • Experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and water-based systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems
  • Worked with and interpreted Mil-Spec requirements and standards
  • Project management and team collaboration experience
  • Knowledge of Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA / VE) strategies
  • Ability to create indented BOMs, engineering drawings, design presentations, and other custom engineering documents as needed
  • Experience with PDM or PLM Systems
  • Experience or training in Six Sigma methodologies
  • Ability to create Control Plans, Work Instructions, Engineering Releases, and Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
  • Other duties as assigned

Exam Requirements :

Employees are required to have an annual eye exam and if corrective lenses are necessary, you will be required to have safety guards added to those lenses or have prescription safety glasses.

Proof of exam must be submitted annually.
